Three research organisations strategically located along the Atlantic Corridor.
tRail5.0 brings together three research organisations located along the Atlantic Corridor, in Portugal, Spain and France. Together they combine expertise in Industry 5.0 and socio-technical systems, logistics and rail freight operations, and transport safety and reliability.
Porto, Portugal
INESC TEC (Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science) is a private non-profit research institution in Porto that works on computer science, industrial engineering, systems engineering and their application to industry and society.
In tRail5.0, INESC TEC coordinates the project and leads WP2 (Evidence-Based Analysis) and WP5 (Project Management). It brings expertise in Industry 5.0, socio-technical systems and data analysis. It leads the review of Industry 5.0 concepts and technologies, the definition of success factors and KPIs, and the development of the Progress Measurement Framework.
Zaragoza, Spain
The Zaragoza Logistics Center is a research and education institute specialised in logistics and supply chain management, affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Zaragoza.
In tRail5.0, ZLC leads WP1 (Foundations of tRail5.0) and WP4 (Communication & Dissemination). It contributes operational, logistics and rail freight perspectives. ZLC leads the alignment with the EU-Rail strategy and Flagship Areas, the mapping of the rail freight ecosystem along the Atlantic Corridor and the policy recommendations.
Marne-la-Vallée, France
Université Gustave Eiffel is a French university and research institution focused on cities, territories, mobility and transport.
In tRail5.0, UGE leads WP3 (Framework & Recommendations). It brings expertise in safety, reliability, efficiency and human-centred transport systems. UGE leads the analysis of the current SRE baseline in rail operations, the Delphi analysis of adoption drivers and risks, and the scenario-based pilot blueprints.
The Atlantic Corridor connects the Iberian Peninsula with France and Germany as part of the TEN-T core network. In tRail5.0 it acts as the main use case, offering real operational, governance and cross-border conditions to validate the project's results. Corridor stakeholders take part in technical visits, interviews, the Delphi panel and validation workshops.
